Effects of Calcium Formulae Foliar Spray on the Fruit Quality of Satsuma Mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marc.) in the Plastic Film House


Abstract
Kalk-H and Clef-non were applied by the spray of different frequencies on Miyagawa Wase satsuma mandarin in the plastic film house. The effect of calcium on fruit quality was examined. Peel coloration by a and a/b values sprayed Clef-non was higher than that of the Kalk-H sprays. Peel coloration by a values was increased with more foliar application frequency, and the a/b vlalue also followed this trend. The reducing sugar level, which includes the fructose of fruit juice, was higher in the Clef-non spray than in the Kalk-H group. Also, the reducing sugar content was increased with more foliar application frequency. However, there was no difference in sucrose and total sugar with chemical treatment types but did show a significant difference between foliar application frequency levels. Specifically, sucrose and total sugar increased with more application frequency of calcium. The soluble solids was not increased significantly with chemical treatment types, but increased with more application frequency of calcium. And the acidity was not affected by the chemical treatment types or application frequency.
